TASTE OF OREGON RV TRIP
Bandon
Bandon is a fabulous place to stop for a while, if not overnight. We parked on the street in Old Town Bandon (accessible right off Hwy 101) and were able to walk to lots of wonderful stuff. However, just before you get to Bandon you might want to check out the state park listed first below:
Bullards Beach State Park / Coquille River Lighthouse - Lighthouse, RV campground (online reservations), beach access, hiking trails, wildlife viewing, picnic areas and more. We only saw visited the lighthouse here, but it is probably also a nice place to stay overnight. See pictures below.
Old Town Bandon - Boardwalk, restaurants, bars, shops, and more - very nice! See pictures below.
Face Rock Creamery - Definitely worth a visit! Yummy cheeses made on-site (lots of samples), ice cream, gifts and more. See pictures below.
Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint - Highly recommended - beautiful vistas, beach access, several intertidal areas! See pictures below.
A side note: This area is a huge producer of cranberries. There are loads of cranberry farms in the area (some visible from the 101), and the town has a big Cranberry Festival every year in early/mid September.

The Coquille River Lighthouse is smaller than the other ones we saw. You can see the
automated beacon that replaced the it on the jetty wall to the right of the lighthouse. |

The lighthouse is open for tours |

This is the boardwalk in Old Town Bandon - notice all of the art on the fence? 2014 is the
year of the horse
and all of the kids of all grades painted a picture with a horse in it. They
were going to vote on them the next weekend. |

They had lots of cool carvings and the town was nice to visit |
|
Mark from RV's To Go recommended going to Face Rock Creamery where they make all of
their own cheeses. We were not disappointed. |
|
You can see inside the very clean facilities - it would have been cool to watch them make
cheese! |
|
A Yelp review for Bandon mentioned Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint, so we walked the 2
miles there,
hitting low tide perfectly so that we were able to walk the beach all the way back
to the jetty near Old Town Bandon. |
|
Nice view from that house I bet |
|
The scenery was incredible! |
|
We saw tons of tide pool critters clinging to the bottoms of the big rocks. |
|
This is the automated beacon on the end of the jetty wall at Bandon South Jetty County Park. From here it was a short walk on a low traffic road back into Old Town. It was very windy that
day, but it was not uncomfortable. |

We ended the night with dinner at Foley's Irish Pub which had good Yelp reviews. These are
their Potato Skins. |
